One of the foods my daughter has missed most since becoming a vegan was onion dip.

It’s a staple at our home for parties and I needed to veganize it stat! With just a few ingredients I was able to throw this all together and let it chill for a bit and it was amazing! Not exactly like the traditional one… this one had more depth to the flavor, which we totally loved!

The most important parts of this recipe are being patient while the onions caramelize and letting the dip chill and the flavors mingle as long as possible. Both of those were hard for me to do because I’m an impatient cook and I really wanted to eat the dip the second it was made.

Although I made this vegan, you can totally make it with dairy ingredients too. It works very well that way too!

Ingredients:

  • vegan sour cream
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 tbs of oil
  • 1 tbs of vegan butter
  • 1 cube of vegan beef bullion
  • 1/4 tsp of pepper
  • 1/4 tsp of salt

Directions:

  1. caramelize onions in oil and butter.
  2. add salt, pepper and bullion to onions and stir till to make a thick onion paste.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Add to vegan sour cream.
  5. chill for at least 2 hours… overnight is best.
