I attended the TMS Family Travel Conference at the Omni Resort La Costa. The accommodations were relaxing and luxurious. Huge thanks to Omni Resorts for hosting me.

I feel so lucky to live in San Diego.

It’s an area with a lot to do for both couples and families and I always recommend it for family friendly travel. I haven’t written enough about the amazing resorts located in San Diego and I’m going to be changing that. Starting with one of my favorites, the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

Location

Minutes from the ocean and 30 miles from the San Diego Airport… Omni Resort La Costa is a convenient choice to stay at while discovering all that San Diego has to offer.

Wellness Amenities That Appeal To Every Traveler

As soon as you arrive you are greeted and warmly welcomed. The entrance to the resort is a circular drive with a stop for valet and baggage drop. The resort is very large with 607 rooms spread out over acres and acres of beautifully manicured grounds. I really enjoyed the decor and although it was presented in an artistic manner it was still very inviting. Since we often travel with the girls in tow we look for elegant and comfortable resorts and the Omni was both. Because the rooms are so spread out there are golf carts and drivers available to take you to and from different areas.

IALL Travel Tip: I chose to walk often during my stay because it was so relaxing but I did use a driver and golf cart for my baggage, which I totally recommend doing! Not only is it a great idea when you get tired, but the drivers are all sorts of awesome. They share great advise about your stay at the resort and also the local area. They are all pretty entertaining too!

Water fun

Let’s talk about the pools and waterslides. There are three main pool complexes and even more pools and Jacuzzis throughout the resort close to all the guest rooms and villas. My favorite was “Splash Landing” created especially for families with a large pool, sandy beach pool for toddlers, water play zone and three waterslides. Not traveling with kiddos? Be sure to visit the Edge Adult Pool + Cocktails for infinity edge Jacuzzis and fire pits.

Just For Kids

In addition to the awesome water fun kids will also love Kidtopia which offers supervised fun for kids six months to 12 year and Viba Game Lounge gives the teens and tweens (up to 16 years old) a “pay for play” gaming area with X-Box 360, driving games, pinball, billboards, ping pong and air hockey. There are also huge chess tables and hammocks throughout the resort.

Here are some pictures of the accommodations.

My room had an entry way, sitting room, large bedroom, bathroom and dressing room. I loved the warm colors.

Sports and fitness centers are very important to Pete and other health minded people.

I’m hoping to bring Pete and the girls back soon so I was thrilled to see the 8,825 square feet Athletic Club with the latest model exercise equipment plus lots of classes.

Next time we visit I’ll be spending some time at the Spa and golf course.

The spa was recently voted #1 Wellness Spa In The Nation by Spa Magazine and the 36 Hole Golf Course boasts both a Legends and Champions courses.

What is your favorite vacation activity?
