Oh how we love our movie nights!
This months movie night theme was Valentine’s Day because really… who doesn’t LOVE Valentine’s Day? Since Pete’s birthday is also on the 14th we always do our Valentine’s movie night a bit early and then celebrate his birthday on the big day. I love doing it this way because I feel like we get to celebrate a little longer this way!
You know I like to keep my movie nights fun and easy so it was no surprise that I made the special drink the star of the evening!
I used our go to milk, TruMoo in the Chocolate Marshmallow limited edition flavor to make hot chocolate and frozen hot chocolate for the girls… and to make it even more fun I set up a little sprinkle station for them to decorate their drinks with! Then I added a HUGE bowl of fresh popcorn, turned on a movie and it was party time!
Directions to make the special drinks:
To make the hot chocolate I just heated up the TruMoo Chocolate Marshmallow flavor for about a minute and a half in the microwave (you can do it on the stove too), and then topped it with fresh whipped cream!
To make the frozen hot chocolate I added ice cubes to our blender and then poured the TruMoo Chocolate Marshmallow into the blender till it covered the ice cubes and blended till it was smooth. Then I poured it into a glass and topped it with whipped cream… and a cute straw!
Before they came home from school I did a little decorating too! I never tell them ahead of time when we are going to have a movie night party… so it’s always a big surprise when they see the decorations!
Less is totally more when it comes to decorating! I spent maybe 5 minutes setting everything up, but it had a huge impact on the party. When the girls came home from school they were so excited because they knew it was party night!

We have a family game night but we have never had a family movie night. Yes we have watched movies together but never made it a super special occasion with decorations. I love this idea and will try it with my girls. I can just see the smiles on their faces when they see the decorations!
