Yesterday on my Facebook Page, we talked about how to have a happy life, and the barriers that prevent us from happiness. Many of the reasons that we have to not be happy are actually just excuses that we use to allow ourselves to be miserable.

Living a happy life takes effort, at least in the beginning. Like any life transforming journey you have to be dedicated to the goal and you have to take steps to make it happen.

Every moment of everyday you will be challenged. There will be issues that we cannot control. There will be times when things that are out of our hands. We have to accept this and focus on the things we can control.

You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be sad and angry. It really is that simple. You have to live your life in a positive light {no matter what is thrown at you}  by training your brain to look for the good. You must trust that good times are right around the corner, even in your darkest moments.

There will be times when your faith in the world will be tested. Bad things will happen. It’s okay to feel those emotions and acknowledged that life isn’t perfect. It is up to you as to how you feel. Nobody else can control your feelings except you. You have to chose to be positive no matter what.

Nothing in life is guaranteed. Even life itself is not guaranteed. You have to believe in yourself, surround yourself with people that bring you joy and keep on moving forward.

*Personal Note* As my daughters and I were about to drive off in our car to do the morning school drop… off my husband walked over to the car and gave everyone a kiss followed by an “I love you”. My littlest one who just turned 4 hollered back “Love you too Daddy… and make sure you have a great day!”.  She totally gets what many of us 10 times her age don’t. She knows that the kind of day she has depends on her… and her alone.

What steps do you take to make sure you have a great day?
