I’m so excited to be a ScholarShare Ambassador for 2015 and I’ll be sharing sponsored posts throughout the year filled with college savings and planning information. Today I’m sharing all about how to Celebrate National College Savings Month With ScholarShare!

saving for college for kids

Back to school time has us all thinking more about our children’s long term schooling… college!

Even as my little one starts 1st grade and my older two are in middle school and high school, all of my parent friends with kids at all these ages are thinking about what is to come! Where will they go to college? What will they study? How will it all get paid for?

And we all know it’s never to early to start saving or too late! The longer you save the more you will have for college, but even if you start later, every penny counts!

I’ve learned a lot through my partnership with ScholarShare and I’m excited to help them celebrate National College Savings Month, and spread the word about the importance of saving for college and the benefits of California’s 529 plan!

This month ScholarShare is encouraging parents and guardians to take the College Savings Pledge.

By taking the pledge, you will also have the chance to win one of twenty $500 ScholarShare 529 accounts for a child (aged 3-14) and a $500 Visa gift card for the child’s teacher.

Here’s how it works:

  • Visit CollegeSavingsPledge.com
  • Take the pledge and provide your contact information. Enter for a chance to win!
  • For an additional chance to win, once you sign the pledge, share it with your friends and family.

CollegeSavingsPledge.com also has some really great facts and downloadable resources, all on the topic of saving for college.

Are you thinking about college for your children too?

The sweepstakes begins at 8 a.m. PT on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and ends at 8 a.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015. For your reference, the sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the State of California who: 1) are at least 18 years or age or older and have a social security number or federal taxpayer identification number; 2) have not won a prior sweepstakes with ScholarShare in the past 12 months, and 3) are willing and able to participate in advertising and other promotional events. Five winners will be randomly selected on Sept. 4, Sept. 11, Sept. 18 and Sept. 25. The winners will be required to open a ScholarShare 529 College Savings Plan account with the awarded funds or contribute the awarded funds to an existing ScholarShare account for a California student between the ages of 3 and 14. The teachers of the student will also receive a $500 Visa gift card.

Additional details about the College Savings Pledge, including the Official Rules, can be found at www.CollegeSavingsPledge.com.
