I love living in California! It is a beautiful place to live and raise a family. I really enjoy exploring and traveling all over this beautiful state. I’m a born and raised Californian and I love sharing why I love it! I grew up in Orange County and then moved to San Diego to attend college. And I now call North San Diego my forever home.

California has so much to offer and really makes for the perfect place to live.

From where I live, and depending on the season, I can be in the mountains playing in the snow or enjoying an ocean sunset all within a couple of hours.

We can also be enjoying the cool temperatures of Northern California with a 6-hour scenic drive up the coast.

Here are 8 reasons I LOVE living in San Diego:

Reason #1- I recently took a trip to Carmel, California and was just blown away by the breathtaking sunsets over the ocean and the animals in the natural habitat. It was a nice drive up to Carmel and I love that San Diego is so close to the north and that the freeways and roads have such beautiful scenery to look at on the way.

Reason #2- It’s a great place to raise a family. We love that there are multiple pumpkin patches for the kids to pick their own pumpkins right where they are grown. We also have tons of farmers markets and fresh fruits and veggies. The girls love to pick their own strawberries and blueberries.

Reason #3- Oceanside Harbor. The harbor is a gorgeous place to walk and enjoy the fresh air. For me walking around and taking in the blue water, colorful plant life, and boats coming in and out of the harbor is both stimulating and relaxing at the same time. I often go there with my girls to take a break from the computer or to clear my head. There are also some great restaurants there that are perfect for families or date night!

Reason #4- The sunsets over the Pacific Ocean are some of the best in the world. We get a multitude of colors with almost every combination you could imagine.

Reason #5- The San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are practically in our backyard. We love to see the animals and we love all the hard work they are doing to conserve endangered and threatened animals. Plus it teaches the girls how important conservation is.

Reason #6- We can be at the ocean in the morning and playing in the snow shortly after lunch. There is something for everyone in San Diego and it’s all within a close driving distance.  Shopping, dining, good schools, great parks, and so much more make it easy to live here and enjoy every moment together as a family.

horsebackriding

Reason #7- From walking paths and hills to go hiking on, to riding trails galore, San Diego is known for its generous amount of outdoor activities. My girls have been riding for years and there are an abundant amount of ranches and horse facilities!

room to play

Reason #8- Plenty of space for the kids to play and explore. We live in a community where all the houses have lots of land. We love having this extra room.

When we purchased our home years ago in San Diego it was one of the best decisions we made. Owning our home gives us a sense of belonging and confidence that we are rooted as a family. Buying a home gives you so many benefits and provides economic stability to not only your own family but also the whole community. We love being proud California homeowners! If you are thinking of buying a home, I totally recommend it. California is such a fabulous state to live in. There are so many good REALTORS® that can help you through the whole process.

Did you know:

  • One job is generated for every two home sales
  • One home purchase stimulates the economy by $60K
  • A homeowner’s net worth is 34 times that of a renter

Pretty cool right?

Why do you love where you live?

  • My husband and I want to retire there. We go to SD every year to see our inlaws, who live in La Mesa and we love it there.

  • My son is being transferred there so I may have to make a trip. Pics are awesome.

  • I love where I live because we are just north of ATL- tons to do! But if I want to stay away from the traffic- I just stay close to home in suburbia!

  • And I would love to VISIT San Diego! I’ve heard such awesome things. Beautiful photos!

  • I’ve never been to San Diego, but it’s on my list of must-sees. I live in Asheville, NC and it’s a runner-friendly, family-friendly city. I’ve lived her most of my life and just can’t imagine living anywhere else.

  • I would love being able to visit the beautiful ocean view and walking the beach. I’ve never been to San Diego, several other cities in Cali but not quite there yet.

  • I loved CA and beautiful San Diego when we visited! Not sure I could live there because of how much the houses cost and taxes BUT DANG… if I did live there it would be SD!

  • I actually don’t particularly like where I’m living now. I like the state but not the city. San Diego is a beautiful place. It’s beautiful when you first land even!

  • I have not had the pleasure of visiting California but I really hope one day I’ll be able to spend a week or two enjoying what you enjoy every day! From everything I’ve heard and from my friends who call California home, it really is a fantastic place to live 🙂

  • I would totally have to agree with all of these and more. My sister lived in San Diego for five years, and I LOVED visiting her there. The weather and sites are right up my alley.

  • I loved visiting San Diego when we lived in Los Angeles. So beautiful and so much to do. We loved LA but felt a Midwestern upbringing would be better for the girls. Our school district here is awesome and enough to entice us to stay despite the harsh winters.

  • It really looks like the best of both worlds……the ocean, AND the country farming life. We live in a very rural area in Indiana and farms are everywhere. I’d love to be able to just go to the ocean anytime I wanted!

  • Sounds like an ideal place to live with the family. I would never have though of SNOW with San Deigo but how cool is that. I hope the fires didn’t cause too much damage.

  • I love where I live because cost of living is good. We have great parks, lakes and free things to do for the family too. Oh and good schools! 🙂

  • Looks like a great place to live and visit! One day I will make it to San Diego!

  • My brother was stationed in San Diego while in the Navy. My Mom visited him and fell in love with the area.

  • My family members who have visited California have great things to say about the state. I would like to visit one day.
