Maddie here! Halloween time is hands down my favorite time of year, so much so that I’ve put together a list of 31 super spooky shows and movies that you need to watch this October! Now that the nights are cool, we spend many nights together as a family in October watching as many of these as possible with a big bowl of popcorn and mugs of hot chocolate.
Here are our favorite Halloween Shows and Movies to get you all excited for Halloween:
1. The Addams Family

I love all iterations of the Addams Family, especially these two movies!
3. Monsters Inc.
4. Monsters University
5. Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated
6. Scooby Doo on Zombie Island
7. Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost
Emily and I love all things Scooby Doo, but especially these! Scooby Doo on Zombie Island and The Witch’s Ghost are also some of the only movies that include real monsters!
8. Paranorman
9. Hocus Pocus
10. The Corpse Bride
11. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors, so you can tell how much I love the Corpse Bride and the Nightmare Before Christmas!

13. Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge
14. Halloweentown High
15. Return to Halloweentown
The Halloweentown movies are classics in our family! We watch them every year, usually on the Disney Channel.
16. Death Becomes Her
17. Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice is hilarious, and definitely one of my all time favorite movies!
18. Dawn of the Dead
19. Night of the Living Dead
20. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is probably my favorite show of all time, and it’s perfect for Halloween!
21. Stranger Things
The Stranger Things trend has been sweeping the world, and for good reason!
22. The X-Files
The X-Files is another one of my favorite shows!
23. Ghost Hunters
24. Ghost Adventures
25. Paranormal Witness
Regardless of their legitimacy, ghost hunting shows are super fun to watch!

27. Harry Potter
I’m probably the biggest Harry Potter fan ever, so I watch these year-round!
28. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
We have a tradition wherein every year we all watch this movie together!
29. Travel Channel or Food Network Halloween Specials
These are great for getting you in the Halloween spirit, and for decorating and baking ideas!
30. Jaws
31. The Sharknado Series
I absolutely love Halloweentown movies!!! We own all of the DVDs.
These are great picks. They’re totally appropriate for Halloween and for family fun.
I think my family and I have seen all of these movies at least a dozen times. That’s how I know they’re great options. LOVE these.
This is such a great list! I love watching Halloween movies with my kids and we love so many of these movies.
I know I have seen all the Scooby Doo ones with my daughter when she was younger. Some of the others I haven’t yet seen.
Can we talk about the Curious George “No Noggin” Halloween special? That is one of the creepiest by-accident Halloween movies ever.
Oh no! I think I need to see this one for myself!
My favorite Halloween series to watch with the kids is Halloween Town. I love The Nightmare Before Christmas. I watch it all year long.

This is an awesome Halloween movie list! Now that our kids are getting a bit older, we have been dabbling in some films that are a bit more scary, such as Poltergeist and the Child’s Play series.
Some of these are my faves! We’ll definitely be watching a lot of these this month. Great picks!

Lots of great suggestions here. I love all of the Charlie Brown holiday movies but It’s the “Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” is one of my favorite.
Harry Potter is our favorite Halloween movie! The first one especially has enough spooky to feel Halloween-ish, but it doesn’t freak me out. 🙂

Halloween movies are definitely something that I enjoy about this time of year. I need to watch some on this list I have never seen before.
Great list! Nightmare Before Christmas and Charlie Brown are our family all-time favorites! We’ll do Haunted Mansion this year too.
We learned about 10 minutes in that Stranger Things was way too mature for our 8 year old the other night so we watched Beetlejuice 🙂

We are in the process of watching all of the Harry Potter films. First we read it and then we have a viewing party with the kids. Can’t wait for the next celebration.

Halloween is without a doubt by favorite holiday, mainly because of all the awesome movies that come along with it! My favorites are Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice!

Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Nightmare Before Christmas are my favs every year. i might also add the Goosebumps movie to our tradition.
