Totals Are In! Did I meet my 2010 Challenge?

I was a major slacker in updating my challenge totals this year. I would post my trips and totally forget to add to the side bar. That was a good day... on a bad day I wouldn't even add all of my trips. I threw them in a basket to post "later". Later never came for those poor shopping trips! Last night I sat down for 3 hours. Yes, 3 hours is what it took to add it all up. I got really nervous when it got to mid October when I was side-lined and unable to shop. At that point I didn't think there was any way I was going to meet this goal. Enter Ralph's Mega Sale and Super Dooper Doubling. I started to feel better about the challenge. Once I added in all of the Black Friday shopping and the money makers at Rite Aid I knew I had a real chance at meeting it. The last 10 minutes I made my sweet husband sit in the same room as I added up the end of December. I screamed loud enough to scare the cat who jumped straight into the air when I hit the $15,000 mark!My next challenge was to add up my … [Read more...]

The Happiness that was Christmas!

I'm not quite sure how many times a post can be written and then re-written, but this one started with, "It's getting closer to Christmas" then it became "Happy Christmas Eve" and then it was "Merry Christmas". Now notice it includes the word "was"... my goal was to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and I'm still going to! Here it goes... MERRY CHRISTMAS (a day late)! We had the best holiday EVER! It started with Christmas Eve at my house. Both sides of the family come and we enjoy dinner, dessert, exchange gifts (we pick names) and then we do a white elephant gift exchange (I got a super man snuggy no comment).I only bake once a year. Sure, I'll throw together some cookies or cup cakes here or there... but Christmas baking is an entirely different thing...These pretty little things look like cupcakes, but they are imposter's! This is my husbands favorite dessert and I only make them Christmas Eve. They are the easiest thing to make, but I think of them as a Christmas thing, so they … [Read more...]

The Christmas Crunch Begins!

Hello Everyone!Well, I managed to control myself and not go into another Rite Aid since Wednesday night. Yes, I know that was only 5 days ago, but for me that was HUGE! I spent the end of last week putting together over 100 little gift bags and rounding up teacher presents, adopt a family gifts and straight out donations.I sat back and looked at the cost of everything and was amazed at what smart shopping with coupons has allowed me to do. The little gift bags alone had a value of over $500. I like to think of myself as a charitable person, but I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable spending that amount on random gift bags when I have 3 college savings accounts to fill up too!The rest of the week before Christmas will be spent baking (a once a year thing for me). I think I'll even bombard you all with pictures of my creations (look for these Dec. 23rd). I still have my parents and my husbands parents to finish shopping for. By the way, does anyone else think that their parents are … [Read more...]

Cheap Trash Bags!

I went to WalMart tonight and bought 16 boxes of trash bags. Good times, good times...#1 I lost track of how many people commented about my shopping card full o' trash bags. Really it was a zoo there and people still took the time to make comments. Here are a few of my favorites."Boy, you must have a lot of yard work to do today". I just smiled, but I wanted to say... "Hmm, it's raining cats and dogs, I'm definitely not doing yard work, but okay"."My God (grabbing her stomach, like she was ill), what are you doing with all those bags?" Well, glad you asked, I actually said... My husband really pissed me off. And then I just stared at her. Then she asked if I was going to load all of his stuff into the bags. I did not respond. I just winked. That was too much fun!#2 Favorite moment at Walmart was at the checkout counter. I handed over my coupons and I said these are for all of the trash bags. I don't know if it's a regional thing, but I call them trash bags. Well, the coupon said $2 off … [Read more...]
